Program Information:

On-the-job training is an essential component of Holland College programs. It provides students with valuable workplace experience, and allows them to apply the skills and knowledge that they have acquired in the classroom to real-life situations. On-the-job training also provides a valuable link between Holland College and the industries we service, ensuring our programs provide graduates with the skills and abilities industry values.

Training for students in the Bioscience Technology program is focused on laboratory practices involved in microbiology, molecular biology, cell culture, analytical chemistry and isolation and purification of biological compounds, enabling them to obtain employment as a bioscience technologist upon successful completion of the two-year program.

This on-the-job training session is intended to give students the opportunity experience a laboratory or industrial bioscience technology workplace. The positions are typically non-paid, full-time positions of six weeks duration. The on-the-job training period for the Bioscience Technology program will be from February 4 to March 14, 2008 inclusive.

Liability and accidental insurance for students in on-the-job placements is maintained by Holland College. For more information, consult the Liability Statement for Employers.
